In Case You Weren’t Lined Up Outside Toys-R-Us at Midnight last night…

force-friday

we thought you might like to check out some of the more intriguing Star Wars merchandise released for today’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens marketing blitz.  Yes, we know it’s a marketing blitz, but we’re Star Wars fans and we’re counting down the days until December 18 (when the movie releases, duh!)

But let’s back up just a bit…we’re kind of assuming you know what Force Friday is and we shouldn’t really do that should we.  So, just to catch you up; a global live toy unboxing event for this Friday, debuting many of the toys that are inspired by characters and sequences appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the seventh feature film based on the property.  Force Friday is a marketing event between Disney/Lucasfilm, toy licensees such as Hasbro, Lego and major retailers (Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, Entertainment Earth and Toys ‘R’ Us among others).

Got it? So on to the good stuff – here’s some of the coolest new products we’ve seen that are hitting the shelves for Force Friday.  We’ve also included affiliate links if you feel so inclined to check out these products and the rest of the Force Friday stuff – enjoy!

BB-8 Remote Control Droid

 bb-8-sphero

While this little guy isn’t actually available until October 2015, you can pre-order it now and Entertainment Earth is offering free shipping.

Check out the video of this – it’s pretty awesome:

Captain Phasma Helmet

At $29.99, this wearable helmet has my name all over it for Halloween.  Captain Phasma has the early lead as my favorite character name in Episode VII – just so awesome! Available in October with Free Shipping offered at Entertainment Earth

Aftermath: Star Wars: Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens

aftermath

Written by Chuck Wendig, this prequel connects the dots from Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Episode VII: The Fore Awakens and is a must read for any real Star Wars fan…just sayin’….Here’s the synopsis from Amazon (Kindle edition for $13.99):

The second Death Star has been destroyed, the Emperor killed, and Darth Vader struck down. Devastating blows against the Empire, and major victories for the Rebel Alliance. But the battle for freedom is far from over.

The Black Series Kylo Ren Force FX Deluxe Lightsaber

This isn’t your typical 8 year old’s plaything.  At $199, this replica does what the movie saber does, just short of severing limbs.  Customizable with Hasbro’s BladeBuilders, this saber extends with a simple flick of the wrist and you’re ready for action.  Already sold out at Amazon, but still in stock at Entertainment Earth

Nerf Chewbacca Bowcaster

Now THIS is an 8 year old’s toy (or 48 year old – no judging here)! On sale for $19.99 – 20% off retail price of $24.99 at Amazon

Hasbro Black Series 6-inch Action Figures

Force-Awakens-Action-Figures

We can’t really talk Star Wars merchandise without mentioning action figures, can we?  The new Black Series collection is simply incredible

The Force Awakens figures are available at Amazon for $19.99 each which is a HUGE discount off the regular price for Black Series figures, which are usually around $50 – my advise? Get this deal while it’s still offered.

And there’s oh so much more we haven’t included here.  If you don’t plan to spend the start of your Labor Day weekend at a big box store picking over the remnants from the sale that started at midnight last night, head on over to Amazon and Entertainment Earth to see what they have to offer in their Force Friday promotions – and enjoy!
