It seems that starting this year with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we’re going to be getting a new ‘Star Wars’ film every year, with the slate currently being ‘The Force Awakens’ on December 18, 2015, Star Wars: Rogue One‘ on December 16, 2016, Episode VIII in May 2017, the young Han Solo film in May 2018, with Episode IX coming out in 2019. And it seems the Star Wars film that controversial Fantastic Four director Josh Trank was working on, whom online rumors speculated was going to be about the bounty hunter Boba Fett, is still going to happen, albeit without its now infamous director.

How Star Wars Changed Hollywood Forever

According to most sources, Disney/ Lucasfilm’s plan was to have a Star Wars movie come out every year, with the anthology movies able to be easily swapped out should they need to be. Which leads most people to believe that the Boba Fett movie was most likely originally going to be in the schedule where the young Han Solo movie currently is, getting pushed back once the director was lost for the former. However, especially if it is about the enigmatic bounty hunter, Lucasfilm is well aware of the fan base for the character, and is determined to push forward, in the words of president Kathleen Kennedy:

“It’s still one of the stories that we absolutely want to tell. There is a lot of innovative technology in and around what it is we’re doing with that story, so for a lot of reasons, we were comfortable postponing that. But we’re definitely still developing it.”

Also interesting to note is that speculation that Boba Fett might be present and a chief character in all three of the ‘Star Wars’ anthology films, making him a kind of Nick Fury connecting all those movies which would be very cool to see. As for what roles he would play, he would clearly be part of the group of bounty hunters rumored to play a major role in Rogue One, and then could end up being a major adversary to Han Solo in his standalone movie.
